Clamp-on and wound current transformers for switchgear
Clamp-on and wound current transformers are the most widely used CTs in low-voltage switchgear. Clamp-on types mount directly onto busbars or around cables and cover rated currents from a few amps to over 4000 A. Wound types are ideal where installation space is limited or the primary conductor is threaded through the core window. Both designs provide galvanically isolated secondary currents of 1 A or 5 A for downstream meters, energy counters and protection devices. Selection depends on rated current, accuracy class (e.g. 0.5s for MID billing), burden and installation constraints. All models in this category ship from stock and are designed for energy distribution, building automation and industrial applications.
